Welcome to the initial post of online office review. Over the past year, I have become increasingly intrigued by sites offering up online office services. Sites like Google Docs and Microsoft Office Live are probably the best known, but Adobe’s Buzzword is catching on along with several others. I plan on drilling down into the big two and cover key features, differences as well as offer suggestions for next iterations of these software as a service sites. I’ll take a look at new sites and review what they offer to the community.
I’m also fascinated with the collaboration aspect of an online office environment. It’s not just about the software, but how to teach an old-school knowledge worker how to rethink the way they work to be more productive.
There’s a decent Wikipedia article on online office that’s worth reading if you’re unfamiliar with the terms, concepts or current offerings.
